The story

18-year-old June Allen lives in a Los Angeles suburb with her single mother, Grace. When Grace goes on vacation to Cartagena, Colombia, with her new boyfriend, Kevin, June remains behind. A week later, Grace and Kevin fail to return to Los Angeles International Airport, and their luggage is still at their hotel. She begins a digital investigation, hiring a Colombian gig worker to help her track clues online, eventually uncovering a web of secrets regarding Kevin's past and the mysterious circumstances of her mother's disappearance.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

June Allen, a teenager in Van Nuys, Los Angeles, searches for her mother, Grace, who disappeared while vacationing in Colombia with her boyfriend, Kevin. After discovering Kevin's criminal history of scamming women, June suspects he kidnapped her mother. She hires a gig worker, Javier, to help find clues in Colombia. Her investigation leads her to a pastor, Jimmy, who claims Kevin is rehabilitated. However, June eventually discovers that Kevin hired a lookalike to impersonate her mother. She then suspects Grace's lawyer friend, Heather, only to find Heather dead. June eventually discovers her mother never reached Colombia and finds security cameras at a childhood home in Nevada. It is revealed that Jimmy is actually June's father, James Walker, a domestic abuser who lied about his death. James and Kevin conspired to find Grace and June. James kidnaps them to the Nevada house, where he shoots Grace. Grace manages to stab James, who dies from his wounds. A year later, Grace has recovered and June is at college.
