Full plot (contains spoilers)
Molly is a talented confectioner on her parents’ farm. She dreams of having a shop of her own in Vienna. Everyone loves her—except her boyfriend Flo, who no longer does, because he met someone else in the city and wants to marry her. At first, Molly thought Flo was going to propose to her. As a result, Molly is utterly miserable and wants nothing more than to get away from the farm. She has a hard time saying goodbye to her grandmother, who is also a confectioner. Molly also often has hallucinations about strange things happening to her because of her heavy figure. Grandma Klara’s lover is Mr. Buchleitner. When Molly is ready to leave, her worried grandmother gives her some money and her old cookbook. On the train to Vienna, Molly meets a woman she takes to be a nun and tells her about her troubles. Due to a mishap, the nun catches sight of Molly’s money. When Molly has to use the toilet, they are in Salzburg, where a ticket inspection is taking place. The nun turns out to be a thief. Molly realizes that the fake nun has stolen her money, her ticket, and Grandma’s cookbook. A wild chase through Salzburg station ensues, but the nun escapes with the stolen goods. Molly is left helpless and alone in Salzburg. At the station she meets a talking dog—a pug—and befriends him. She first finds herself lost in the kitchen of a restaurant. The head chef initially wants to send her away, but a waiter offers her a place. Molly orders a mocha at first, but then orders a wide variety of dishes, which she eats all of; the pug gets his share too. However, the pug is always stealing meat from the kitchen as well. Molly spends the night in the kitchen, and the waiter offers her a job as a pastry chef, but the head chef treats her unfairly. She is also offered a cheap staff apartment in the old town, which she is not very pleased with, and Molly carries the pug around in a backpack. While shopping at the market, she first meets her new boyfriend Sascha after a minor car accident in which he damages a market stall. Meanwhile, the pug has made friends with Sascha’s dog. Sascha is a taxi driver and a saxophonist. When Molly calls her grandmother, Grandma wants to check whether the cookbook is still there. But she does not go along with Molly’s bluff and has to tell her the truth about the theft she suffered. Later, Molly sets out to find the fake nun who stole her money. She discovers that the supposed nun is a hairdresser. When Molly enters the hair salon, the thief hides, and the owner greets Molly very rudely and drives her out. Grandma Klara is also having trouble with a mortgage on her forest. Her lover only works at a bank counter and cannot get her a loan. Later, he plays the lottery and gets only three numbers right. By chance, Molly meets her Turkish friend Azra in the station toilets. Azra is secretly studying medicine. Molly later goes to the apartment with her. After that, Molly and Azra attend Sascha’s saxophone performance, and later he sleeps with Molly. Azra, however, is disappointed by her first time and is initially jealous. Gabi Lechner, the fake nun, has by now saved enough money for her cosmetic surgery and gets a place at the clinic. When Sascha and Molly follow her there, Molly demands the money back from Gabi at reception and uses force, but Gabi claims not to know Molly, whereupon Molly is thrown out. The head chef also gives her trouble in the kitchen, so she covers him in chocolate and quits. Molly now makes her confections at home, and Azra sells them at the market. One evening, Molly visits Gabi in the clinic, pretends to be her sister, and understands why Gabi stole her money. Gabi later appears at the hair salon looking completely transformed, but the rude owner fires her. In response, Molly, Gabi, Azra, Grandma Klara, and especially the pug take revenge. Gabi apologizes to Molly for the theft. Later, Grandma Klara wants to have her hair done and asks to be served by the owner. Meanwhile, the pug smuggles Grandma’s purse into the owner’s office. Grandma Klara then pins the theft of her purse on the owner, and the owner is arrested by the police. The hair salon moves out, and Molly and her friends, including Gabi, open their confectionery shop, which they call Schokolateria. The shop does good business. Sascha wants to sleep with Molly again, but she turns him down and breaks up with him. In the end, the pug comforts Molly.
