Full plot (contains spoilers)

After serving time in prison, Alex wants to put an end to her old life. She finds a new job and moves into her late grandmother’s house. When she comes home from her first day at work, she discovers an intruder. Tom is hanging around in her house. Shortly afterward, she also meets Tom’s father, Piet. He is attracted to Alex and wants to see her again, but she refuses every invitation. Father and son, however, are not so easily put off and keep turning up around her. Alex is persuaded to have dinner with the little family and even goes to Piet’s birthday celebration. But Piet has fallen in love with Alex, and she does not return his feelings. When Tom sets his father’s car on fire out of anger, the problems between the two of them become apparent. Piet reacts violently. After another act of aggression, Piet sees no other option than to place Tom with a foster family.
