Mord in Aschberg (2014)

Former police officer and current private detective Finn Zehender gets caught up in a swamp of mysterious activity involving the Albrecht family while working on his latest assignment. He is supposed to keep his client’s husband under surveillance, while the Albrechts want contract killer Thomas Trappe to murder a troublesome blackmailer and use Zehender’s surveillance as an alibi. The plan works, but the private detective ends up caught in the middle of the shootout. He tries to corner the shooter on his own. He almost succeeds, but the hitman escapes in his green delivery van. The police take over the official investigation, but Zehender cannot just stand by and joins the investigation on his own. He gains access to the hotel room from which the shooter fired at his victim. He discovers a jewelry store across from the hotel and gets them to give him their surveillance footage. As expected, he spots the green delivery van in it, but can make out only part of its license plate. Based on the conspicuously luxurious lifestyle the man who was shot led while alive, Zehender deduces that there was blackmail and thus finds a lead to the Albrechts. When they realize this, they set Thomas Trappe on him as well. Thanks to the courageous intervention of former village police officer Gerd Mühlfellner, the sniper is driven off. Meanwhile, Trappe demands his “reward” from Simone Albrecht—not just financial compensation, but sexual favors as well. Simone Albrecht therefore decides to get rid of him too. Finn Zehender manages to stop her, however, and arrives in time with prosecutor Agnes Sonntag, so that the Albrechts and Thomas Trappe are arrested.
