The story

Despite a strained friendship and a long silence, Konrad persuades Romy to join him on a trip to the seaside. Romy insists that her boyfriend, Julian, come too. Julian’s parents have made the journey a condition for him to think about his future, and he is allowed to borrow his father’s gold Mercedes in return. The trip begins badly: Julian distrusts Konrad, sensing a connection between him and Romy, while Konrad is frustrated by Julian’s presence. Then a stranger named Nele joins them, making Konrad wonder whether the trip was a mistake. What was meant to be a holiday soon reveals deeper personal conflicts.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Despite their strained friendship and the long silence between them, Konrad persuades Romy to go to the seaside with him. Her condition: her boyfriend Julian has to come along. Julian’s parents have made it a condition that he think about his future during the trip. In return, he is allowed to borrow his father’s gold Mercedes. The trip gets off to a rocky start. Julian dislikes Konrad because he senses a certain connection between him and Romy, while Konrad is bothered by Julian’s presence. When the stranger Nele joins them as well, Konrad fears the trip was a crazy idea. It soon becomes clear that there is more to their journey than a fun holiday adventure. Personal conflicts and ghosts from the past put their trip to the test, because everyone, as they say, has their own burdens to bear.
