Their double lives collide when they are both assigned to eliminate the same target. John and Jane Smith are a married couple in the New York City suburbs who are secretly elite assassins for rival firms. Their lives collide when they are both assigned to kill the same prisoner, Benjamin 'The Tank' Danz. After a botched hit, they realize each other's secret identities and fear their marriage was merely a cover. Following a tense dinner, a chase ensues, and they eventually engage in a massive shootout that nearly destroys their home. During the fight, they realize they cannot bring themselves to kill each other and spend a passionate night together. Their partnership is then threatened by their employers, who join forces to eliminate them. With the help of John's friend Eddie, they flee in a neighbor's minivan, destroying pursuing attackers. They eventually kidnap Danz, only to discover he is a decoy. In a final stand at a home decorating store, they fend off a final assault by heavily armed operatives.
