A highly intelligent dog and his human son must repair a rip in the space-time continuum after an unauthorized time-travel trip goes wrong.

The story

Mr. Peabody, a highly intelligent anthropomorphic dog, lives in a New York City penthouse with his adopted human son, Sherman. Peabody uses a time machine called the WABAC to teach Sherman history. However, during Sherman's first day of school, a conflict with a classmate leads to a situation where Peabody is called in for a meeting with a child protective services agent who plans to investigate his home. To avoid losing custody, Peabody invites the classmate's family over for a dinner party, but things go awry when Sherman takes the classmate on an unauthorized trip to Ancient Egypt.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Mr. Peabody, a highly intelligent dog, and his adopted human son Sherman use a time machine called the WABAC to travel through history. After Sherman takes his classmate Penny on an unauthorized trip to Ancient Egypt, they must retrieve her from King Tut. On the return journey, the WABAC malfunctions, landing them in Renaissance Florence where they crash Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine. Meanwhile, a child protective services agent, Ms. Grunion, seeks to remove Sherman from Peabody's custody. The trio eventually lands in the middle of the Trojan War. Peabody appears to die saving them from the Trojan Horse, but Sherman travels back in time to find the past version of Peabody for help. Grunion arrives and attempts to collect both Shermans, causing them to merge and create a cosmic shockwave. A portal opens above New York, unleashing historical figures and artifacts onto the streets. Peabody, Penny, and Sherman eventually travel to the future to repair the rip in the space-time continuum. History is altered, with modern culture incorporated into the past, and Agamemnon marries Grunion.
