Seven women escape prison and pursue a rumored treasure on a remote Mexican beach, where they clash with vacationing men.

The story

Fed up with abuse and mistreatment by prison authorities, seven women led by La Gaviota plan an escape. They are also drawn by an elderly inmate’s tale of hidden treasure. As the old woman nears death, she asks La Gaviota and other inmates to help her die in return for the location of a map. After carrying out her request, the women stage a riot and escape. Following the route the old woman described, they eventually find the map, which points to a pristine beach on the Mexican coast. There, they encounter a group of men on vacation, and the women begin trying to drive them away from the presumed treasure.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

A group of seven women, led by “La Gaviota” (Tina Romero), decide to escape from a women’s prison, fed up with the abuse and mistreatment by the prison authorities and also tempted by the story of a hidden treasure told to them by an elderly convict. The old woman is dying in prison and asks “La Gaviota” and another group of inmates to “help” her die in exchange for revealing the location of the map that leads to the treasure. After carrying out the deed, the convicts stage a successful riot and escape from the prison. For several days, they wander along the route indicated by the old woman until they finally find the treasure map. The treasure appears to be located on a pristine beach somewhere along the Mexican coast, though the exact location is unspecified. However, when they reach the place marked on the map, the women come across a group of men vacationing on the pristine beach. The women begin stalking them in order to get rid of them and drive them away from their treasure. One morning, the women attack the camp while the men are drunk. However, the men manage to capture one of them, nicknamed “La Caballa” (Patricia Mayers). The woman is gang-raped and then tortured to reveal the reason for the attack. When the men learn about the treasure, they decide to fight the women in order to take the loot. For several hours, the two sides exchange gunfire and attacks, with casualties on both sides. Two of the men take advantage of the situation to slip away from the group and act on their homosexual desires, but one of the women catches them. One of the men kills her and is wounded by gunfire in the process. The men are eventually overpowered by the women and subdued, despite having tried to negotiate with them over how to divide the loot. The men are forced to search the whole beach for the loot, and after an attempted betrayal, two of them are killed by “La Bicha” (Vicky Vázquez), who then takes her own life. Only three of the inmates and one of the men are left standing. They spare the sole surviving man, who had not taken part in the rape and torture of “La Caballa.” They eventually find the loot, and the film ends with the four of them enjoying a fortune as they prepare to build a tourist resort on the same beach where the events took place.
