Full plot (contains spoilers)
Elliott, a teenager on a cranberry farm in Muskoka Lakes, Ontario, encounters her 39-year-old self during a mushroom trip. The older version of herself, a PhD student, warns her to avoid a boy named Chad and to cherish her time with family. Despite the warning, Elliott becomes attracted to Chad, a worker on her father's farm. As she learns her parents are selling the farm, she struggles with her identity and her feelings for Chad. After a series of events, including a trip to Maude Island where she hallucinates as Justin Bieber, she decides to follow her heart. She eventually admits her bisexuality and confesses her feelings to Chad. In the end, the older Elliott reappears to explain that she warned her about Chad because he is destined to die, and she didn't want her younger self to suffer. However, the younger Elliott chooses to love him anyway, accepting the risk for the sake of the experience. The older version leaves her with a final message to live for the present.
