Full plot (contains spoilers)
Nude photos of 16-year-old Lara suddenly appear on a questionable website. The photos, which were meant only for her boyfriend Basti, seem to have ended up on the site through spyware and quickly spread around the school. Lara is then bullied and harassed by her classmates. Basti cannot withstand the pressure and breaks up with her. The distressed girl feels abandoned by everyone and runs away from home. The next day, her mother Charlotte and Basti find her unconscious by the riverbank with a bottle of alcohol. Lara’s mother, Charlotte, tries to get the photos permanently deleted. She quickly discovers, however, that this is almost impossible: although Lara’s parents pay the website operator the demanded $500 to have the photo deleted, it appears again on the same site the very next day. Since the website is hosted abroad, the German police have very limited options. Charlotte contacts other victims of the website, and together they track down the suspected website operator, who lives in Portugal. The Portuguese police raid his premises but find no evidence. Charlotte and the other victims then become targets of the site operator, who sees his lucrative source of income threatened. The young Muslim woman Amal is one of the victims. Out of guilt toward her very religious family, she commits suicide. This deeply affects Charlotte and the other victims, who turn together to a group of young hackers. The group takes action, hacks the site, and anonymously forwards evidence to the police, who are then able to arrest the operator. The family believes that everything is finally over and goes on a trip to the seaside with Basti. The film ends with cellphone photos of another girl being uploaded to a similar site and made public without her knowledge.
