After recording a church painting’s theft, Franciszek gives the art expert who stole it three days to return it.

The story

Franciszek Ratay witnesses the theft of the painting “Angel with a Violin” from a church and captures the incident on an amateur video camera. He discovers that the thief is Benedykt Weber, a gallery owner and art expert. Franciszek confronts Weber at his gallery and threatens to give the recording to the police unless the painting is returned to its place within three days. The setup pits Franciszek’s demand for the artwork’s return against Weber’s position as its thief, with the recorded footage serving as Franciszek’s leverage.
