Neue Adresse Paradies (2013)

Construction contractor Stefan has made some very poor business decisions and lost everything as a result. He and his wife Jenny and stepdaughter Natascha have to move out of their house from one day to the next. All they have left is an old motorhome that Stefan gave Jenny the previous Christmas. They set off in it and spend the night at a campsite by a lake. The next morning, they discover the campsite’s eccentric but lovable residents. Their daughter Natascha resents the family’s situation and is thoroughly embarrassed by it, especially when she runs into Leon, a boy from her school. She would rather move in with her grandmother at her villa than live at the campsite on welfare. Her relationship with her best friend Alina suffers because Natascha cannot tell her the truth, and they had promised to be honest with each other. Stefan is lethargic and, after his social decline, struggles to get back on his feet. At the campsite, Jenny runs into Christian, a former suitor, and decides to take her naturopath examination in the coming days. On the day of the exam, however, she gets scared and does not even show up. Meanwhile, Stefan tries to use his former contacts at the Herrsching town hall to make a fresh start professionally. He comes up with the idea of creating a local recreation area next to the campsite. The family reconnects with its original values and finds its way back to one another. Stefan’s project is set to go ahead, but the department head in charge uses this as an opportunity to terminate the lease with the campers he dislikes. The campers now stand to lose everything, which leads to a fierce argument between Stefan and Jenny. Stefan does not want to lose his family and comes up with a plan. They intend to convince the authorities that beavers live on the site. Since beavers are protected, nothing could be built there. Just as their plan seems about to fail, a beaver actually appears, and the plan works after all. In a flashback narrated by Natascha, we learn what happens to the family: Jenny passes her exam on the retake and starts working at a practice, while Stefan initially delivers pizzas. Shortly afterward, they both become the new campsite operators. Natascha gets together with Leon, and Alina reconciles with her.
