A mother and her twin sons live in isolation in a remote cabin, believing they are the only survivors of a supernatural force.

The story

Momma and her two young children, Nolan and Sam, live in a cabin in a large forest. According to Momma, a supernatural force known as "The Evil" has spread across the world, leaving them the only survivors. Momma is besieged by visions of supernatural entities that her sons cannot see but believe are real. To prevent the Evil from touching them, the family must have ropes tied when they leave the house, connecting them back to the building. The boys must also chant a daily prayer to the house in thanks for it keeping them safe from the Evil. The family spends their days foraging and hunting for food while enduring the isolation of their survivalist lifestyle.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Momma and her twin sons, Nolan and Sam, live in a remote cabin, believing they are the only survivors of a supernatural force called 'The Evil.' They use ropes to stay connected to the house and chant prayers for safety. During a foraging trip, a dispute leads Nolan to intentionally disconnect Sam's rope, causing him to fall and break his ankle. As a brutal winter sets in and food runs low, Momma's visions of the past and the 'Evil' intensify. When forced to decide whether to kill their dog, Koda, for food, Nolan locks Momma in the greenhouse, leading her to kill herself while confronting the Evil. Following her death, the boys face starvation. Nolan eventually finds a hiker named Cole, but Sam shoots him. Later, a girl appearing to be Cole's daughter arrives; when Sam pursues her, she reveals herself as the Evil and touches him. Sam becomes possessed and sets the house on fire. Nolan hides them both in a crawlspace as the house burns. The Evil sheds Momma's skin to reveal a scaled creature that dissipates. Paramedics rescue Nolan, who is flown away. The film ends with a reveal that Momma lied about the world's status, as Sam whispers 'She loves me more' to Nolan, showing a photo of a scaled hand on his shoulder.
