Sylvia Moran is a major, celebrated film star. She also serves as patron of a charity gala for disabled children. But the sight of their disabilities fills her with fear, leading to a breakdown backstage. Her seemingly perfect, radiant life has more cracks than one might think. And plenty of people are busy keeping up the façade. Her assistant Clarissa organizes every aspect of her life and shields her from the press. Her partner Philip is always by her side, presenting a glamorous image to the press. But someone knows Sylvia’s dark secret. Someone has managed to capture it in a sound recording. Now she is being blackmailed. When her daughter Nele also contracts meningitis and faces the threat of paralysis, Sylvia is barely able to cope. Yet her perfect façade, the pressure of a film shoot on Rügen, and pressure from the producers and the press prevent her from looking after Nele. Instead, Philip steps in once again. Although Sylvia throws herself into her work, she loses more and more control over her life.
