A free-spirited student discovers she is six months pregnant and must face an unexpected future—with a comic-book character suddenly in the mix.

The story

Twenty-three-year-old Rakel is a student who skips lectures in favor of parties, spontaneous pursuits such as Aikido training, and working on her own comic book. When her friend Ingrid notices that Rakel’s breasts have grown, she suspects pregnancy. Rakel’s changed sense of smell, missed period, and unusual cravings add to the clues. A pregnancy test confirms it, and Rakel immediately wants an abortion, only to learn that she is already six months pregnant. Unsure who the biological father is, she considers placing the baby for adoption after birth. Meanwhile, Ninjababy, a character from her comic sketches, appears and pesters her with questions and whims.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

23-year-old Rakel is a student, but she never goes to lectures. She prefers to spend her time at parties, on spontaneous pursuits like Aikido training, or working on her own comic book. One day, her best friend Ingrid notices that Rakel’s breasts have somehow grown and guesses that she is pregnant. Rakel’s altered sense of smell, missed period, and insatiable craving for exotic fruit may also point to this. When a test shows that she really is pregnant, Rakel immediately knows she wants an abortion. But she soon discovers that it is far too late, because she is already six months pregnant. Rakel considers giving the baby up for adoption immediately after the birth. She is not even sure who the biological father is. On top of that, “Ninjababy,” a character from her comic sketches, also shows up and annoys her with a string of embarrassing questions and absurd whims.
