The story
Kate Armstrong is a demanding and talented head chef at a trendy restaurant in Manhattan's West Village. Her life is upended when her sister is killed in a car accident, leaving her with the responsibility of caring for her young niece, Zoe. To manage the kitchen in her absence, her boss hires Nick Palmer, a talented and charismatic sous chef. Kate finds herself struggling to maintain her professional boundaries while dealing with the demands of motherhood and an unexpected growing attraction to Nick, who has also become a mentor figure to Zoe.

Kate Armstrong is a formidable head chef in Manhattan's West Village who prides herself on her perfectionism. Following the tragic death of her sister, Kate must take in her niece, Zoe. Her boss, Paula, hires Nick Palmer, a talented and cheerful sous chef to help manage the kitchen. While Kate initially views Nick's presence as a threat to her authority, she finds herself drawn to his personality and the bond he forms with Zoe. Despite her efforts to remain detached, a romantic chemistry develops between her and Nick. When Paula offers Nick the position of head chef to replace her, Kate chooses to drop her defenses and embrace vulnerability. The film concludes with Kate and Nick deciding to start a new life together, opening their own bistro with Zoe.
