Full plot (contains spoilers)

Norbit and Kate were childhood friends in a Tennessee orphanage who were separated when Kate was adopted. Years later, Norbit married Rasputia, a woman with three intimidating brothers who run a local 'security business.' After discovering Rasputia's infidelity, Norbit reconnects with Kate. They begin to rekindle their feelings while Kate tries to save the orphanage from being turned into a strip club by the Latimore brothers. A complex plot involving a fraudulent liquor license and a deceptive suitor, Deion, leads to a tense standoff. Norbit is eventually imprisoned by Rasputia but escapes to crash the wedding of Kate and Deion. He reveals Deion's history of multiple marriages and the Latimores' schemes. After a confrontation where the townspeople protect Norbit, Rasputia and her brothers are forced to flee. Norbit and Kate ultimately marry and purchase the orphanage.
