A bank employee with a rare condition that prevents him from feeling physical pain must go on a dangerous mission to rescue his coworker from a gang of robbers.
The story
Nathan Caine is an introverted bank employee in San Diego who lives with a rare condition called CIPA, which leaves him unable to feel physical pain. His life takes a turn when his coworker, Sherry Margrave, is taken hostage by a gang of bank robbers during a heist at their credit union. Despite his lack of experience and the risks involved, Nathan decides to track down the robbers to rescue Sherry. The situation becomes complicated as Nathan's unique condition allows him to endure physical trauma that would incapacitate others, leading him into a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the criminals.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Nathan Caine, a man who cannot feel pain due to CIPA, works at a credit union in San Diego. After a brief romance with his coworker Sherry Margrave, a gang led by Simon Greenly robs the bank and takes Sherry as a hostage. Nathan pursues the robbers, eventually engaging in a series of violent encounters. He tracks down and kills one robber, Ben, and later faces another, Andre, in a booby-trapped house. During the chaos, it is revealed that Sherry is actually Simon's sister and accomplice who developed feelings for Nathan. After a final, brutal confrontation at an auto shop, Nathan manages to defeat Simon but sustains severe injuries. He is placed in a medically-induced coma and eventually receives a plea deal for his actions. One year later, he visits Sherry in prison, where they share a moment of connection over a piece of cherry pie.
