O Auto da Compadecida 2 (2024)

The film shows João Grilo and Chicó reuniting after 25 years. João Grilo returns to Taperoá and realizes he has become a local legend after Chicó spent years telling the story of his resurrection. Grilo uses all his cleverness and cunning to try to capitalize on his fame amid the town’s municipal elections. The pair meet new characters, including radio host Arlindo and Colonel Ernani—influential rivals vying for the local mayor’s office—as well as the seductive Clarabela and the con artist Antônio do Amor. They also reunite with old acquaintances such as Rosinha, Chicó’s great love, and the cangaceiro Joaquim, a former “henchman” of the late Severino.
