The story

To keep Ramon available at all times, Veber has installed him and his wife Carmen in a wing of his spacious home in Neuilly. Carmen also works there as a cook, but dislikes their arrangement and dreams of returning to her native Andalusia. She struggles with Ramon’s devotion to his employer, who may summon him at any hour and has a mistress. Full plot (contains spoilers)

Ramon Holgado is the all-purpose chauffeur to François Veber, an important businessman for whom he has made himself indispensable through his thoughtfulness. To keep him on hand at all times, Veber, who lives in a spacious house in Neuilly with his wife Alexandra, a hypochondriac and a capricious woman, has even installed Ramon and his wife Carmen, whom he employs as a cook, in one wing of the house. This sometimes irritates Carmen, who dreams of returning to her native Andalusia and struggles to accept that Ramon is so devoted to his boss. The latter also has a mistress and does not hesitate to call on his chauffeur at any hour of the day or night. But the arrival of a mysterious financier, Arnaud Delahaye, brings further complications...
