The story
Set in 1969 Los Angeles, the film follows Rick Dalton, an aging Western hero struggling with a fading career, and his loyal stunt double and friend, Cliff Booth. As the film industry rapidly changes, the duo navigates the complexities of fame and survival. While Rick seeks to revitalize his career, the looming threat of the Tate murders creates a tense atmosphere in the background of their daily lives in the Hollywood landscape.

In February 1969, Rick Dalton, a former Western TV star, struggles with a fading career while his stunt double and friend, Cliff Booth, deals with his own challenges. They live in Los Angeles, where Rick hopes to befriend his neighbors, actress Sharon Tate and director Roman Polinski. The narrative follows Rick's journey to Italy to film a spaghetti Western, where he marries a starlet before returning to the US. Upon his return, a tense situation arises when a group of Manson's followers, led by Tex, arrive at Rick's home. A violent confrontation ensues where Cliff and Rick defend themselves against the intruders. Following the conflict, Rick and Cliff are left to deal with the aftermath while Sharon Tate and her husband invite Rick for a drink.
