The story
Waitress Dreux Jones and aspiring artist Alyssa Brown live in a rundown apartment in Los Angeles with Alyssa's boyfriend, Keshawn. When their landlord demands $1,500 in rent by 6 PM, they discover Keshawn has disappeared with the money. The two women must navigate a series of increasingly absurd and dangerous situations to recover the funds before they are evicted. Their desperate search leads them through a series of mishaps, from a failed blood donation attempt to a high-stakes confrontation with a local gang member who claims ownership of a pair of sneakers they sold to make quick cash.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After discovering their boyfriend Keshawn stole their rent money, Dreux and Alyssa embark on a frantic quest to find $1,500. Their journey involves a failed attempt to sell blood, a dangerous retrieval of a pair of Air Jordans from a utility pole, and a confrontation with a woman named Berniece. They eventually sell the shoes to a man named Maniac, but the transaction draws the ire of a ruthless gangster, King Lolo, who demands $5,000. After being evicted, the women host an impromptu art gallery to raise funds. They eventually face off against King Lolo in their apartment; during a chaotic fight, a ceiling collapse and a fire trap them inside. They are rescued by firefighters, and King Lolo is arrested. The film ends with Dreux becoming a successful manager and Alyssa becoming a renowned painter, both living in a refurbished apartment.
