Full plot (contains spoilers)

Law student Koen gets himself and his good friend Sophie out of trouble by saying that top criminal Henk de Koning is his uncle. A few days later, Uncle Henk turns up at his door and demands something in return from his “nephew.” Henk wants to find out where his former accomplice Sjon hid the twelve million euros. Henk was still owed the money, since he had planned to kidnap a businessman. Sjon is in a nursing home, and Koen has to start working there as a volunteer. At the home, Koen discovers that Sjon is on the locked ward for people with dementia. Meanwhile, the police are also trying to question Koen, and the kidnapped businessman wants his twelve million back. Koen tries to get through to Sjon, but Sjon gives no concrete answers to his questions. Koen has to test whether Sjon really has dementia, so he pushes him, in his wheelchair, into a ditch—but Sjon doesn’t move a muscle. Koen thinks Sjon really does have dementia. Uncle Henk, Detective Uitenhaage, and the businessman think Sjon is pretending. Koen finds a piece of paper in Sjon’s pajamas, but when he comes back later, the pajamas are in the washing machine and the map is gone. Koen draws a fake map and gives it to Henk. Henk thinks he knows where the twelve million is buried and takes Koen with him. When they arrive at a place from Henk and Sjon’s youth, Koen has to start digging. They find nothing, and Henk wants Koen to choose a hole to be buried in. Koen talks him out of it by saying he is close to finding the money because he has built a bond with Sjon. Koen searches Sjon’s room for clues. When Koen discovers a gun in an old radio, he gets angry with Sjon, but instead of responding verbally, Sjon wets himself. Uncle Henk finds out that Koen has been talking to several people and wants to kill him. Koen manages to stay alive by saying that he saw a code in the cleft between Sjon’s buttocks when he washed him after he wet himself. Henk lets Koen go, and the next day Sjon says something about Kralingse Bos, so Koen decides to go there with him. He tells Grace, the staff member on the ward. When Koen returns to Sjon’s room, Sjon has got up from his wheelchair and come up with a plan. Koen has to drive him to the woods, where the twelve million is buried. They go outside together. Sjon is still pretending to have dementia, and they get into a car. Uncle Henk gets into the car too, with Sophie held hostage. Koen has to drive to the place Sjon indicated. Sjon is still pretending to have dementia and gives no response. When they arrive in the woods, Koen has to dig while Sjon sits in his wheelchair and Sophie is held hostage. Koen digs up a coffin with “R.I.P. Vlek” written on it. Vlek is Henk de Koning’s nickname. Henk gets angry and wants to shoot Sjon, but Koen pulls out a gun he got from Sjon and points it at Henk. Sjon now gets up from his wheelchair too and tries to pull the trigger. However, there are no bullets in his pistol. Koen doesn’t dare to shoot until his friend Sophie runs away and Henk tries to shoot her. Koen pulls the trigger and shoots Henk. After a while, Henk gets back up and, looking dazed, asks the way to the exit, then disappears from view. Sjon goes to South America with the ten million euros and gives two million euros to Koen and Sophie. Detective Uitenhaage is furious, while the businessman sees on AT5 that Sjon is taking the twelve million euros from the lion enclosure at Artis. The businessman thought Sjon was dead because Koen had placed a man wearing the same jacket as Sjon in front of the window. This was the arrangement between Koen and the businessman, but Koen couldn’t go through with it. So Koen put a man in front of the window who, before developing dementia, had said he wanted to be euthanized, and had him shot dead.
