Full plot (contains spoilers)
Michelle Spark, who is face-blind, founds the start-up Real-o-Rama, which manufactures a pair of smart glasses. Initially celebrated, the company is caught up in a scandal during a live television demonstration when teacher Pablo Rothmann is outed as gay through the glasses and consequently loses his job. Rothmann appears on various television programs, where he criticizes Spark and the glasses. The protagonists are covered in various ZDF and 3sat formats, each showing short excerpts from fictional programs. The glasses are later declared illegal, whereupon Michelle Spark gets around the ban by giving them away. Later, the “Tin Foil Heads” form online and violently attack people wearing the glasses and destroy them. In the end, the glasses become legal again because Spark develops a QR code that blocks certain people. The film ends with a point-of-view shot of someone walking to the subway, when a passerby outs the glasses-wearer as gay and beats him up.
