The story
Seventeen-year-old Or lives with her mother, Ruthie, in a small Tel Aviv apartment. Ruthie has worked as a prostitute for about twenty years, and her health is now becoming critical. Or takes on a series of odd jobs while trying to keep up with high school and her love life. At the same time, she hopes to help her mother leave prostitution and get back on the straight and narrow. The strain of managing these responsibilities shapes Or’s immediate struggle, as she tries to balance her own adolescent life with concern for her mother’s worsening condition.
