A career bank robber and a U.S. Marshal find themselves in an unexpected alliance after a prison break.

The story

After being released from prison, career bank robber Jack Foley finds himself in a precarious situation. While attempting to navigate his life on the outside, he becomes entangled with a variety of criminals and a high-stakes heist involving a cache of uncut diamonds. His path crosses with U.S. Marshal Karen Sisco, who is tasked with hunting down the fugitives. The narrative follows the tense, shifting dynamics between the two as they navigate a series of clandestine meetings and dangerous maneuvers in the wake of a prison escape, forcing them into an uneasy and complicated proximity.

The film follows Jack Foley, a career bank robber who, after being released from prison, attempts to secure a job from a wealthy criminal named Richard Ripley. After a failed attempt to rob a bank, Foley escapes from a Florida prison during a breakout, where he encounters U.S. Marshal Karen Sisco. The two are forced into a shared journey as they move toward a heist in Detroit to steal a cache of diamonds hidden in Ripley's home. Along the way, they share a romantic night, and the plot involves various complications with other criminals, including a ruthless man named Maurice 'Snoopy' Miller. Ultimately, the heist leads to a confrontation where Foley is captured by Sisco. The film ends with Foley and Sisco being transported together, with Foley realizing Sisco intentionally arranged for them to be together.
