Three unrelated stories probe apparently inexplicable supernatural phenomena against a backdrop of human alienation and impossible love.

The story

The film opens with questions about how many people believe in supernatural phenomena, how many claim to have experienced them, and what experiments have sought to investigate such claims. It then presents three unrelated episodes exploring phenomena that appear inexplicable. Though the stories are separate, they share an emphasis on alienation and disconnection among their protagonists, as well as the frightening impossibility of love.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film begins by asking: How many people believe in supernatural phenomena, and how many claim to have had such experiences themselves? What experiments have been conducted to find this out, and what phenomena have been observed? Three unrelated episodes investigate these phenomena, which seem inexplicable. However, all the stories share one thing: the alienation—or lack of connection—between their protagonists, and the terrifying impossibility of love.
