A family moves to a new home and discovers a mysterious graveyard capable of resurrecting the dead.
The story
Louis Creed, an ER doctor from Boston, moves to the small town of Ludlow, Maine, with his wife, Rachel, and their two children. While exploring the woods, Rachel and Ellie stumble across a funeral procession leading to a cemetery called 'Pet Sematary'. After a series of unsettling events, including the death of their pet cat, the family learns that the burial ground has the power to bring things back from the dead. However, the resurrection comes with a terrifying cost, as the area is believed to be inhabited by a spirit known as the Wendigo.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After their pet cat, Church, is killed and resurrected in a state of aggression, the Creed family is warned that the resurrection is dangerous. Following the tragic death of daughter Ellie in a road accident, a grieving Louis decides to use the Pet Sematary to bring her back. Despite warnings from their neighbor Jud, Louis succeeds in resurrecting Ellie, but she returns with a disturbing and violent demeanor. Meanwhile, Rachel is haunted by visions of her dead sister, and the son, Gage, is haunted by the ghost of a boy named Victor. The situation spirals into horror as the undead Ellie kills Jud and eventually attacks Rachel. In the climax, after a violent confrontation, both Rachel and Louis are resurrected by the cemetery's power. The film ends with the resurrected family members together, while the fate of the young son Gage remains ambiguous as he sits in a car.
