In Britain's Lake District, Peter Rabbit and his family steal vegetables from the garden of the late Mr. McGregor, who died of a heart attack after being caught by Peter. Peter takes over the manor with local animals, while in London, McGregor's great-nephew Thomas is fired from Harrods and inherits the manor. Thomas intends to sell it to open a toy store and begins installing security. When Peter and Benjamin sneak in, Thomas tries to drown Benjamin but drops Bea's binoculars instead. Thomas buys an electric fence and dynamite. Thomas and Bea fall in love, sparking Peter's jealousy. A war of traps ensues, including Peter rewiring the fence to shock Thomas. After a series of accidents involving dynamite and blackberries, Bea breaks up with Thomas. Feeling remorseful, Peter takes Thomas to London to encourage him to follow his heart.
