The story
Eva, a 20-year-old temporary worker living in a shelter, is sent to a luxury hotel to replace a housekeeper who is on strike. Simone, an experienced housekeeper, trains her while concealing the pain of her osteoarthritis in order to continue working. As Eva learns the job, she sees the hidden labor behind the hotel’s immaculate appearance and the poor conditions faced by the women responsible for its cleanliness and reputation. The workers are ignored and despised by management, exposing the sharp divide between the hotel’s luxury and the treatment of the people who maintain it.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Eva, a 20-year-old temporary worker living in a shelter, is sent to a luxury hotel to replace a housekeeper who is on strike. Trained by Simone, who has 30 years of experience and hides the pain caused by her osteoarthritis so she can keep working, the young woman discovers the behind-the-scenes world of grand hotels and the poor working conditions of the women responsible for the establishment’s cleanliness and reputation, who are completely ignored and despised by management. The film concludes with images of the CGT HPE and CGT Commerce and Services union sections, which fought for the working conditions and wages of subcontracted housekeepers, led by Rachel Keke, who later became a member of parliament.
