Three Moscow taxi drivers create a calm space for women passengers as they navigate work, dreams, and conversation.

The story

The film follows Marina, Alla, and Viktoria, three friends who drive pink taxis around Moscow and transport only women. Against the backdrop of a fast-paced, demanding metropolis, their cars offer passengers a calm, welcoming space. The drivers are valued as good listeners by their young, affluent female passengers, and conversations range across fashion, careers, and men. Through the working days of the drivers and their exchanges with passengers, the documentary offers a glimpse of their lives, dreams, and hopes, alongside those of a newer generation of women whose apparent circumstances contrast with the drivers’ own.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film documents the lives and working days of three Moscow taxi drivers—Marina, Alla, and Viktoria. In their pink taxis, they transport only women around Moscow, a city considered one of the fastest, toughest, and most expensive in the world. In contrast to the metropolis of Moscow, which never sleeps, Marina, Alla, and Viktoria’s pink taxis are an oasis of calm and a microcosm of cheerful serenity. Because the three friends are good listeners, their young, affluent female passengers value them, and they get chatting about fashion, careers, and, time and again, men. The film offers a glimpse into the lives, dreams, and hopes of the three taxi drivers and their passengers, who belong to a new generation of women. Unlike the three taxi drivers, their passengers seem to live in a Russia that sees itself as modern, successful, and unburdened.
