Full plot (contains spoilers)
In a 19th-century Italian village, Geppetto creates a puppet named Pinocchio. After a star brings the puppet to life, the Blue Fairy tells Pinocchio he can become a real boy if he is brave, truthful, and selfless, appointing Jiminy Cricket as his conscience. Pinocchio is soon targeted by the con-artist 'Honest' John and his cat Gideon, who trick him into joining a puppet master, Stromboli. After being imprisoned by Stromboli, Pinocchio escapes and is swept away to Pleasure Island, where children are turned into donkeys. Pinocchio and Jiminy eventually escape and reunite with Geppetto, who had been searching for him. They are attacked by a sea monster, Monstro, but manage to escape its belly. In the aftermath, Pinocchio's actions prove his heart is that of a true boy, and he is ultimately accepted as such.
