Captain Jack Sparrow must find a legendary chest to escape a deadly debt to the captain of the Flying Dutchman.

The story

Set one year after the events of the first film, the story follows Captain Jack Sparrow, who is haunted by a debt to Davy Jones, the ghastly captain of the Flying Dutchman. Jack is marked for death and pursued by the Kraken. Simultaneously, the wedding of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann is interrupted by Lord Cutler Beckett of the East Island Trading Company. Beckett demands that Will obtain Jack's magic compass to locate the Dead Man's Chest. As the characters navigate the perils of the sea, they are drawn into a high-stakes race to find the chest and resolve their respective fates before the Kraken claims its prize.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

One year after helping Jack Sparrow escape Port Royal, Will Turner's wedding to Elizabeth Swann is interrupted by Lord Cutler Beckett, who offers to free them only if they retrieve Jack's compass. Jack is currently serving a debt to Davy Jones, the captain of the Flying Dutchman, and is being hunted by the Kraken. Will finds Jack's crew and strikes a deal to find the key to the Dead Man's Chest in exchange for the compass. Meanwhile, Elizabeth escapes from prison and joins Jack in Tortuga. The group eventually reaches Isla Cruces, where a three-way fight breaks out between Jack, Will, and the former officer James Norrington. Norrington steals the heart from the chest, allowing the others to escape, but the Kraken attacks the Black Pearl. Jack is chained to the mast as the ship is dragged down. Ultimately, Norrington gives the heart and the letters to Beckett, who gains control of the Dutchman and the Kraken, while Jack's crew prepares to rescue him at 'world's end'.
