A television producer’s housewarming party in an affluent Paris suburb grows tense as a struggling star host and an exasperated neighbor contend with the gathering.
The story
Television producer Nathalie hosts a housewarming party at her spacious new home in an affluent Paris suburb, bringing together show-business figures, family, and neighbors. Among the guests is Castro, the star host of a television show whose ratings are falling, along with his ex-wife Hélène, Nathalie’s sister, and their daughter Nina, who is publishing a book loosely inspired by her parents’ lives. The gathering also includes Castro’s driver, Nathalie’s assistant, a local waitress dazzled by the celebrities, and Nathalie’s Russian partner. The festive occasion faces a complication: a farmer neighbor is exasperated by the noise and is not easy to deal with.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
It’s a housewarming party for Nathalie, a television producer, who has invited numerous guests to celebrate in her spacious new home in an affluent Paris suburb: show-business figures, family, and neighbors are all there. For Castro, the star host of a show whose ratings are falling, the day will prove difficult. Also among the guests are Hélène, Castro’s ex-wife and Nathalie’s sister; Nina, Hélène and Castro’s daughter, who is publishing a book loosely inspired by her parents’ lives; Manu, Castro’s driver; Titi, Nathalie’s assistant; Samantha, a local waitress dazzled by the celebrities; and Pavel, Nathalie’s Russian partner, who is very helpful and very much in love. But not everyone is enjoying the party: one neighbor in particular, a farmer, is exasperated by the noise—and he’s not an easy man to deal with.
