Plötzlich Millionär (2008)

On his tenth wedding anniversary, the small-time bourgeois Benno Gütermann learns from his friend, colleague, and neighbor Axel that they have both been fired from their jobs as bus drivers because the bus route is no longer profitable. Their appeal to their employer, Brausewetter, with a proposal to reorganize the route is in vain. Immediately afterward, however, Benno receives notice from a notary that he has inherited one million euros from an aunt. He wants to invest it in the bus route and its only, dilapidated bus so he can keep the route running with his friend, and therefore intends to buy the rights and the bus from his former employer. But Brausewetter proposes a deal: Benno would trade in classic cars and could double his fortune within a year. Benno agrees, and shortly afterward a prosecutor confronts him with the news that the money he had transferred to a secret account was embezzled by his former employer, Brausewetter, who has fled. The bus and various consumer goods that Benno had since bought on credit are confiscated. But Benno manages to buy the bus back by selling an expensive watch and, together with his friend, makes their plan to save the bus route a reality. The fraudster Brausewetter is arrested while trying to flee to Costa Rica.
