Full plot (contains spoilers)

On the surface, everything seems to be perfectly fine. Retired Kurt Hofer has been married to Rosa for 35 years, and they have a lovely house. However, he does not really take her seriously. He is curt when she asks about financial matters, such as when she wants to know what successful deal he is celebrating with his son-in-law, dentist Udo Zimmermann. One evening, Rosa secretly follows her son-in-law and ends up at Köhn’s Flamingo Bar, where she meets the bartender, Charly. Udo, meanwhile, told his wife Beatrix that he had to deal with tax matters at his dental practice, which was why he came home so late. The next day, Rosa returns to the Flamingo Bar and discovers a poker table in the back room. Charly explains that her son-in-law is addicted to gambling. He is also having an affair with Jutta, his dental assistant, who is urging him to confess the relationship to his wife. After Udo manages to convince Kurt to give him his house because of a planned change to the gift tax law, Kurt transfers the house to him at the notary’s office. Trixi receives a letter from the bank saying that the last eight monthly payments on the practice, the house, and the car are overdue, and that the debt amounts to 300,000 euros. It later turns out that the total liabilities amount to one million euros. The house is to be auctioned. Udo himself goes into hiding. He tells his lover Jutta that he wants to build a completely new life with her, but tells his wife that he fell for speculators with whom he had invested all his assets. He says that after he threatened to go to the police, they beat him up. Trixi and Kurt refuse to believe Rosa when she tells them that Udo lost all the money playing poker. In all the commotion, Kurt suffers a heart attack and is admitted to hospital. Unwilling to accept her fate and the loss of the house, Rosa wants to win back the house and the money at a poker tournament. Charly is supposed to teach her the rules, but at first he refuses because he once lost everything himself. Later, however, he agrees. A romantic relationship begins to develop between Charly and Rosa. Rosa eventually manages to win the tournament and get her house back. She leaves Kurt and starts a new life with Charly.
