Full plot (contains spoilers)

The film’s plot was adapted to place the fictional columnist Polly Adler in a social milieu for the first time. She has a teenage daughter who worries her. In addition, her husband, an architect, wants a divorce because he has fallen in love with a client. After uncovering a political scandal, she comes across in public as a confident, successful woman, while in her private life she struggles to cope with her problems. The suspense-and-release climax of the storyline is Polly Adler’s investigative journalism (with Florian Teichtmeister at her side): proving that a member of the government (August Schmölzer) is homosexual and, ultimately, persuading him to agree to being outed in a cover story in the magazine published by Polly’s employer, Anatol Grünberg (Wolfgang Böck).
