A boy who fakes his academic success stages an elaborate deception to keep his father from discovering the truth.
The story
At 14, Abou is his parents’ pride, apparently outperforming his brothers and coming top of his class. In reality, he has falsified his report cards to sustain that image. With a parent-teacher meeting approaching, Abou devises a scheme to keep his father from learning the truth: he recruits neighborhood acquaintances to pose as his teachers, while arranging for his real teachers to meet a father he has hired. The setup turns an ordinary school meeting into a carefully coordinated deception, with Abou trying to keep the two sets of adults from exposing his lie.
