Full plot (contains spoilers)
After Zurich private banker Leo Weyer unexpectedly suffers a heart attack, he is placed in an induced coma. He leaves his shares in the private bank he runs to his illegitimate daughter, Caroline Pfister, with whom he had maintained little contact until then. After initially hesitating, Caroline decides not to transfer her stake to the other partners and tries to take over the management of the bank. With the help of compliance consultant Stephanie Pfenninger, she develops a new strategy for the bank’s future direction. The focus is on sustainable investment products and a complete separation from undeclared funds. Despite the customers’ initial enthusiasm, it becomes clear that both relationship managers such as Marco Antonelli and Leo Weyer have neglected to document the funds under management and have helped their clients evade applicable tax laws. Although Stephanie Pfenninger alerts Caroline Pfister to these irregularities, Caroline ultimately decides against resolving the problem completely. The external auditor Adrian Wyss, who was originally supposed to prepare a report for the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, is therefore promptly hired as an employee.
