After a habitual young liar’s grandfather is taken hostage by real robbers, nobody believes his urgent call for help.
The story
Twelve-year-old Victor Bogomil has a vivid imagination and lies so often that he repeatedly disturbs the residents of the upscale apartment building where he lives with his grandfather, Joseph, its caretaker. His false alarms have brought police responding to an invented burglary and firefighters answering a fabricated fire report. Then real criminals, fresh from robbing a jewelry store, break into the building and seize Joseph. When Victor calls for help, his history of false alarms means nobody believes him. He must find a way to deal with the intruders himself.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Victor Bogomil is 12 years old and has a very vivid imagination, to the point that he ends up lying all the time. He lives with his grandfather, Joseph (Gérard Jugnot), who is the caretaker of an upscale apartment building, and constantly disturbs the neighbors with his lies: they are woken either by police officers Victor has called about a fake burglary, or by firefighters called to deal with a false report of a fire. But one day, real robbers who have just held up a jewelry store break into the building and take his grandfather hostage. But after crying wolf so often, no one believes Victor when he calls for help. The young boy will then have to manage on his own to stop the criminals.
