The story
In Paris in 1972, an anonymous city brings people into one another’s orbit, often without their realizing it. Vincent works as a stockbroker by day and tries to become a novelist at night, but he has lost the enthusiasm of youth and is descending into a destructive relationship with alcohol. Raphaëlle, an architect, tries unsuccessfully to draw him out of that spiral. Elsewhere, Emmanuel and Anne are a couple in love who are breaking up, while the elderly Germaine and Albert are forced to leave the neighborhood where they live. Their separate troubles unfold against the city’s impersonal backdrop.
