A primatologist and a genetic engineer must team up to stop mutated animals roaming through the streets of Chicago.
The story
After a space station is destroyed by a mutated rat, several canisters containing a gene-manipulating pathogen are scattered across the globe. These canisters are eventually discovered by a leucistic gorilla named George, a crocodile named Lizzie, and a wolf named Ralph. The pathogen causes the animals to grow to massive sizes and exhibit extreme aggression. When a nefarious corporation uses a transmitter to lure these mutated beasts toward Chicago, a primatologist and a disgraced genetic engineer must work together to find a way to stop the creatures before they destroy the city.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Following the destruction of the space station Athena-1, a gene-manipulating pathogen is released. It infects a gorilla named George, a crocodile named Lizzie, and a wolf named Ralph, causing them to grow to massive sizes. George is cared for by Davis Okoye, a primatologist and former soldier. When the animals are lured to Chicago by the corporation Energyne, Davis teams up with genetic engineer Kate Caldwell. They navigate the chaos of the city while trying to find an antidote. During a confrontation at the Willis Tower, Kate manages to get George to swallow a vial of the antidote, restoring his personality. Davis then helps George defeat Lizzie and Ralph while Kate and a government agent, Harvey Russell, work to stop a military airstrike. The threat is neutralized, and the heroes join forces to rescue the remaining civilians.
