The story
Raoul Taburin is a bicycle repair specialist whose keen ear lets him detect and fix even the slightest mechanical irregularity. Yet he has a private secret: despite his expertise, he cannot ride a bicycle, having fallen whenever he tried as a child. Forty years later, he still regards this inability as a curse. Attempts to confide in others repeatedly fail, while a legend grows that he is a daring stunt-riding genius adored by the village. The situation changes when Hervé Figougne, a photographer known for meticulously arranged portraits, moves to the village and sets out to photograph every family. When Raoul’s turn comes, he faces a ride down a mountain to pose as the sporting hero everyone believes him to be.

Raoul Taburin is a bicycle repair specialist and a true expert in his field. With his keen ear, which detects any irregularity, he can fix the slightest suspicious squeak. But he is hiding a secret that haunts him: despite his great expertise in bicycle mechanics, he cannot ride a bicycle himself. As a child, every attempt to ride ended in an immediate fall, because he was unable to find his balance. Forty years later, he still feels this inability as a veritable curse. Despite repeated efforts to confide in someone, every attempt fails and often ends in disaster. A legend even takes hold: Raoul Taburin is supposedly a daredevil on his bicycle, a kind of stunt-riding genius, adored by everyone. Despite himself, he becomes an impostor. One day, a photographer who specializes in meticulously composed portraits, Hervé Figougne, moves to the village. He plans to capture every family in a perfectly arranged photograph. One morning, it is Raoul’s turn, and he has no choice but to take a bicycle ride down a mountain to immortalize his sporting prowess...
