The story
Set in Paris, the story follows Remy, a young rat with a refined sense of taste and smell who dreams of becoming a chef. After becoming separated from his family, he finds himself on the roof of the renowned restaurant of the late Auguste Gusteau. There, he encounters Alfredo Linguini, a struggling garbage boy. To achieve his dream, Remy forms an unlikely alliance with Linguini, hiding under his chef's hat to guide his movements and influence his cooking, while they both attempt to navigate the high-stakes world of professional French cuisine.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Remy, a rat with a refined palate, dreams of becoming a chef and forms a secret partnership with Alfredo Linguini, a kitchen worker who is actually the son of the legendary Auguste Gusteau. Together, they navigate the challenges of the restaurant while hiding Remy's involvement from the ambitious and harsh head chef, Skinner. After a series of events, including a discovery of Linguini's lineage and a falling out between the two partners, they reconcile. Remy's culinary skills are eventually revealed to the staff, and he prepares a 'confit byaldi' for the influential food critic Anton Ego. Ego, moved by the dish, gives the restaurant a glowing review. Following a series of events that lead to the closure of the original restaurant, Remy, Linguini, and Colette open a new bistro called La Ratatouille, where the rat colony finds a new home.
