The story
In the present, John Hartley is an FBI profiler who investigates the theft of one of the bejeweled eggs on display at the Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, along with Interpol agent Urvashi Das. Having stolen the egg, globally wanted art thief Nolan Booth manages to escape but finds Hartley and the Interpol at his home in Bali. Hartley is incarcerated in a remote Russian prison with Booth, and the two must decide whether to work together to find the remaining eggs and clear Hartley's name.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The story begins with the history of three bejeweled eggs gifted by Mark Antony to Cleopatra in the 1st century BC. In the present, FBI profiler John Hartley and Interpol agent Urvashi Das investigate the theft of one egg in Rome. The thief, Nolan Booth, is caught but framed by his rival, Sarah "The Bishop" Black. Hartley is imprisoned with Booth in Russia; the two form an uneasy alliance to find the other two eggs. They travel to Valencia to find the second egg held by Sotto Voce, where they are confronted by Black. After a series of betrayals, they travel to Argentina to find the third egg in a secret bunker. During the escape, it is revealed that Hartley is not an FBI agent but a conman, and he and Black are actually a couple working together. They ultimately double-cross their allies. Six months later, they find Booth on a boat in Sardinia. He reveals their accounts are frozen, and the trio agrees to a new heist in Paris, leading to the issuance of 'red notices' for all three.
