A romance develops between the son of the U.S. president and a British prince.
The story
Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, attends the wedding of Prince Phillip, Duke of Cambridge. Alex has a long-standing feud with Prince Henry, Prince Phillip's younger brother. During the reception, Alex and Henry get into an argument that results in the £75,000 wedding cake falling on top of them. To mitigate the fallout after the cake incident and help his mother's re-election campaign, Alex is forced into a series of interviews and appearances with Henry, in which they pose as friends. While stuck in a custodial closet, Alex admits that he began to resent Henry after he rebuffed him at Alex's first appearance as a public figure.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After a shared argument and a cake-related incident at a royal wedding, Alex Claremont-Diaz and Prince Henry are forced to pose as friends for public appearances. While hiding in a closet, they reconcile and begin a secret relationship. They eventually become lovers, communicating via private jets and secret messages. During a campaign in Texas, they are briefly caught together, and Alex comes out to his mother. When Henry feels his royal position makes the relationship unsustainable, he retreats to England. Alex travels to London to confront him, and they agree to fight for their love. After their personal emails are leaked online, Alex gives a public speech confirming their relationship. Despite the King's disapproval, they appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to a cheering crowd. On election night, after Alex's mother wins her re-election, the pair celebrates together in Austin, Texas.
