The story
In Haute-Savoie, Berthier, a precision-machining factory, is on the verge of being bought by an Anglo-Saxon pension fund. The prospective buyer plans to cut jobs afterward to increase profitability. Cédric, an employee at the factory, proposes to two friends that they form their own investment fund and attempt to buy the business through a leveraged buyout. Their plan requires them to raise more than €40 million, a daunting obstacle as they try to prevent the takeover.

In Haute-Savoie, Berthier, a precision-machining factory, is about to be bought by an Anglo-Saxon pension fund that plans to cut jobs afterward to increase profitability. To prevent the takeover, Cédric, an employee at the factory, suggests to two of his friends that they set up their own investment fund and buy the factory through a leveraged buyout. They still need to find more than €40 million, however. They ultimately succeed by persuading one of the Berthier company’s heirs and orchestrating a strike to bring down the price.
