Full plot (contains spoilers)
In the 1980s, Claire Redfield and her brother Chris were children at the Raccoon City Orphanage where Claire befriended Lisa Trevor, a victim of Dr. William Birkin's experiments for the Umbrella Corporation. In 1998, Claire returns to Raccoon City and encounters a series of bizarre occurrences, including a mysterious woman and a blood-soaked diner. Nearby, the STARS Alpha team, including Chris, Jill Valentine, and others, is sent to the Spencer Mansion to investigate a missing team. They encounter zombies and a traitorous operative, Albert Wesker, who is attempting to steal a virus. As the city is overrun by zombies and a mutated William Birkin, Claire and Leon S. Kennedy team up to find a secret tunnel. They eventually reach a secret lab where they encounter the mutated Birkin. The survivors—Chris, Jill, Claire, Leon, and a girl named Sherry—escape on a train as Raccoon City is destroyed. In a post-credits scene, Wesker is shown awakening in a body bag as Ada Wong introduces herself.
