The story
Five years after Kyra's death, Riddick has become uneasy in his role as Lord Marshal of the Necromonger fleet. After an attempt on his life, he strikes a deal with Commander Vaako to travel to the location of Furya. However, he is betrayed by his escort and left for dead on a desolate planet. Riddick must survive the harsh environment and local predators while waiting for a rescue that may not come. When he eventually makes contact with nearby mercenary groups, he must navigate a dangerous alliance to escape a looming threat from the planet's environment.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
After being betrayed and left for dead on a desolate planet, Riddick survives by fending off 'Mud Demons' and training a jackal-beast pup. He activates a beacon, attracting two mercenary groups led by Santana and Colonel R. "Boss" Johns. Riddick forces the two groups to cooperate to survive a massive swarm of Mud Demons triggered by an approaching storm. During the conflict, several mercenaries are killed, and Riddick eventually beheads Santana. The survivors fight to reach their ships, where Riddick eventually faces a choice regarding the fate of the remaining crew. In the final moments, Riddick escapes into deep space. In the director's cut, Riddick confronts Krone on a Necromonger capital ship and learns that Vaako has achieved transcendence.
