The story

Arrogant TV chef Felix Hausser runs a successful Michelin-starred restaurant, while his manager Dennis negotiates a deal to create an international chain. Driving through the countryside, Felix runs Frieda, a single mother and farmer riding her bicycle, into a ditch. She breaks an ankle, but he does not notice. Her admirer, local banker Marcus Brauer, recognizes Felix’s car. A judge whom Felix had recently refused entry to his restaurant revokes his driver’s license, and tabloid attention to the injured mother brings bad publicity. Felix’s TV contract is suspended, and the Japanese investor makes a worse offer. Felix and Dennis offer Frieda dinner and help with urgent farm work, hoping to placate her and improve Felix’s reputation.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

The arrogant TV chef Felix Hausser runs a successful Michelin-starred restaurant. His manager, Dennis, is in the process of closing a deal with the Japanese to establish an international chain. While driving through the countryside in his convertible, Felix runs the single mother and farmer Frieda, who is riding her bicycle, into a ditch. She breaks an ankle. He doesn’t even notice. Her admirer, local banker Marcus Brauer, recognizes Felix’s car. The judge, whom Felix had recently refused entry to his restaurant under the “dogs and children” rule, maliciously revokes his driver’s license. When the tabloid press gets wind of the “abused mother,” the bad publicity begins. The TV studio suspends his contract, and the Japanese investor makes a worse offer. Felix and Dennis hope to placate Frieda with a free dinner and offer to help her with the farm work that cannot be postponed. At the same time, they want to improve Felix’s reputation. Surprisingly, Felix reconnects with his youth as a farm boy, and after winning over her little daughters, the two stumble into an affair—at least until the press arrives.
